would this card be a good upgrade for a radeon 9800 pro 128? would the geforce 6800gs be a better option? i appreciate the help.

1. It is a good replacement due to double memory and higher speeds.
2. 6800GS is a much better replacement by far.
3. 6800GS is more expensive.
 
how much more powerful is the 6800gs compared to this card? is the difference worth an extra $60.00? thanks.
 
What is the speed of the ram in that MSI? If its 1000mhz thats a nice upgrade. The 6800GS would be better, and I think 60$ extra is fair for how much faster it would be.

how about an x850pro 256. does this fare well against the 6800gs? thanks.
 
Just be careful. The original link pointed to a page with several Abit cards, but only the 9200SE, 9550, and 9600XT were AGP cards. In fact, I didn't even see an RX800 listed. The X800XL was the closest thing I saw.

Close enough, but situations like this u have to really consider the price and features. But I'll still would probly choose the 6800gs because the speeds are close enough and it is sm3.0 capable (which the x850pro is not). Now I'm not sure if you have agp or pcie, but if u have pcie u also have the choice of buying another one later on for sli.

And just as an aside so that u don't think I'm an nvidia !!!!!!, I have an x850xt :D .
