Abit NFM2 Overclocking Problems.

Whenever I try to OC my cpu, I get a message that says "Warning System is now in Safe Mode, Re-set CPU frequency...." Is there a way to get rid of that. I just updated my bios tonight. This board is really frustrating compared to my s939 Tforce, where I could just find my max OC.

I dont know about all these problems your having. 99% of other M2 users are completely satisfied with their boards

All i can think of is to RMA and start from scratch, this board really is better than the tforce. Unless you updated the bios wrong, or arent doing something. I know this is stupid, but maybe theres a setting your not turning off when you OC? Is CnQ off? Turned down your HTT mult? Not touching anything else?

Possibly . I'll check. That is the same thing I was thinking. Don't get me wrong I love the board other than the issues, I've been having with oc'ing. I'm just thinking there's something there that is causing the board to go into safe mode.

Try the Abit forums...they usually have quick responses to their boards over there. I've always found them helpful.

Where did you get the updated BIOS from? I decided to give Abit another chance and changed my RMA refund to a replacement. I guess we'll see.

Where did you get a bios update? I had twenty minutes with this board and got my opteron 1210 up to 2.9Ghz, so the board may just be a bad one. It's definitely better than the t-force though.

I can do that. Could this possibly have something to do with the fact that my CPU fan is plugged into the system fan port, and not the CPU fan? I'm getting a "CPU Frequency Error"

Never hurts to try and plug it into the right header

Alright baby. switching the fan header fix that problem. I can now boot into windows @ 220fsb. Now we have to figure out why I can't get windows to boot if I go any higher! YAY!

Blue, are you using a brand new CPU, or are you trying to OC CPU you had previously in a Biostar that you knew could do a specific speed? Reason I ask is because I knew my 3800x2 65w could do 2.5Ghz easily as I was at 2.6 Ghz stable on my T-Force. 250x10 got me nowhere on my Abit, but if I started low, say 220 and then saved settings and then went back and increased in 10Mhz increments, I got up to 270, but I couldn't hit that speed directly from the get go like I could with my T-Force. I don't know if everyone else had to go through the same process or if they just hit high HT speeds from the bat.

No. I haven't had my Tforce since I went from s939 to LGA775. I went in and changed all my settings like, boot priority just basic things, you know disable cnq. I then saved that, and I was able to raise my FSB with a 9x Multi to 250fsb @ 1.35 and 1.4v volts. Anything higher than 250, It wouldn't post. I tried the same thing with voltages through 1.35 - 1.5, and I didn't get anywhere. I now can't boot @ anything higher than 210 with 1.35 volts, even though I reached 250fbs @ 1.35 over an hour ago. This whole process took me about 2 hours, and i'm tired, frustrated, and done for now.

It also seemed that if I raised it from 200 - 250 in 10mhz increments I could go higher. I couldn't just change it to 240fsb like I could on my Tforce.
