I currently run on a

Abit nf-7 v2.0

i have a 80 gb wd IDE hard drive i believe,

I am looking into a wd 320 sata drive

i read this on sata drives http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1046951,00.asp

can anyone give me a site with more information comparing ide and ata / sata drives??

will i be able to get an sata drive and have the ide as a slave or is that not possible?

I'm trying to buy a hd by 10pm tonight

so if you have aim please message me to talk and help "HOLLAATTHIAGO" is my sn

You can run a SATA and a IDE together I just recently swithed to dual SATA until then I had a SATA as my primary and a IDE for storage.

SATA is definately faster than an IDE and my motherboard will support it right ?? i read it needs the 4wire +12 +5v connectors, is that true ?

Untill then I don't know if my power supply is compatible to have that SATA hd with my mobo

but after checking its info i guess it does support it lol

out of which of these 2 hard drives, which one is better.... why does the KS model show a write time while the other one doesnt?

the js models description they put "FAST" alot in it.. is it really faster than the the KS?

im just confused why the 8mb cache would be described alot more with "FAST COOL QUIET" and the 16mb cache just "COOL AND QUIET"

more suggestions please im leaning on the 16mb cache

Opinion? yeah .... the new drive is to be used with the Abit NF7 board, correct?
If so then don't waste your money on SATA 3.0Gb/s drives because that board doesn't support it.

And "SATA1" won't give much speed improvement over PATA (IDE). So I'd stick with a PATA
drive in that older system unless you want the smaller SATA cable.

I too am running an nForce2 system by the way.
