I picked up an Opty 1212, and a NFm2 in hopes of oc'ing the Opty to hell and back. I've had no luck with that. I have come to the conclusion that I'm usng old bios. I'm hoping a bios update and bump in memory voltage will help me out. I'm hoping Steve or Dillusion could link me to the bios fix for the usb.
 
what do you mean usb issue? My board can do 300, but after that I can get her stable.
 
The USB issue I'm speaking of has nothing to do with the soft menu or oc'ing. From what I understand the USB ports dont' give power to the USB keyboard after post, so I can't boot from a CD or go into safe mode unless I plug in a Ps2 keyboard.
 
Yea you are right. I noticed this when using memtest in dos with my USB. I would just bite the bullet and get a cheapie PS2 keyboard for testing etc..
 
You should have an option in the BIOS that says something like USB Keyboard Support via OS or BIOS...select BIOS USB support.

THis doesnt matter, there is a bug during the ACPI switch from CMOS to OS, this option has nothing to do with it.

You MAY be using an old BIOS, when i got my 65nm i didnt need a new BIOS, dont know. i would flash to the latest for sure tho.
 
Latest bios allows better overclocking, for sure. But Abit still needs to allow adjustment of Mal and Tref from the bios. Those two small adjustments nets me more than 200mhz extra clocking. But I have to use a windows utility to adjust them. Pity really, Abit always seems to not go that extra inch that would make their boards true contenders...

MAL: Maximum Asynchronous latency. Default on nf-m2 is 6ns at ddr667. Putting it at 8ns or above nets much better clocking for some chips.

Tref: Kind of like refresh for ram. Default is 3.9us. Setting to 7.8us helps in ram clocking on some sticks.

Both settings have little impact on performance per clock, but being able to adjust them will sometimes increase over-clocking substantially...

could someone please link me to a good bios? I've yet to be able to find one, that or I just can't use the flash utility.
 
I already linked you so I guess that you can't use the flash utility ... :p
 
Make sure you have F-Lock enabled on the keyboard. I went through 2 keyboards before I figured it out.
