guys, hoping someone here might have a suggestion for me... per the title i'm running an abit is7, latest bios, with a p4c2.6, a pair of corsair xms pro pc3200 512MB dimms, and a pair of seagate sata 160gb drives, non-raid. for some time now i've been running at clock speeds of 254/202, no over-volting, and letting the bios set the mem timings (2-3-3-7), gat on auto (turned off). i've not had any issues with this setup. when i recently tried to image my winxp partition using bootit (an awesome and cheap partition/boot manager) it hung, so i tried setting all my clock speeds back to default. now's when things get wierd - ~10% of the time when i boot the machine looses hd0 - can't even find it in the bios! rebooting always solves the problem but then i have to go into the bios to fix the drive boot order, which is a pain. when i switch back to my oc speeds everything is fine - hd0 no longer gets dropped.
so, what's up here? how can my system be LESS stable at stock speeds than when it's oc'ed?! note that when oc'ing i use fixed pci/agp speeds of 33/66, so the bus the drives are on is running at the same speed in both cases.
