abit ip35pro users *ide drive not detected*

i can't get it to detect my ide dvdburner, so i can install windows.
i changed cables 3x now, as well as made sure the dvdburner was
set to master as well as cable reset. i even borrowed the dvdburner
that i know is working from my other pc and still the same thing.

the jmicro section shows no devices detected.
the manual doesn't help at all in regards to
troubleshooting ide stuff.

i've already cleared the bios numerous times, and flashed
to the 14 bios hoping it would work. any thoughts?
(outside of buying an sata burner?)

do i just have a bad ide controller on my new board?
 
my specs

e6850
abit ip35 pro
crucial ballistix 6400 2gb
8800gt
nec 18x dvd burner IDE
pc power and cooling 610watt psu

SATA hd = 150gb raptor set to sata 1
IDE dvdburner set on ide as master (on master of cable, and jumper set to master) (have also tried cable select on drive, no difference)
