I posted in General Hardware a few days ago about a few problems I had getting my build up and running but I've encountered a more specific problem lately, and I'm beginning to think it's tied to my motherboard.

Before we begin, specs as follows:
Intel E2180 w/ Stock HSF
2x1gb of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800mhz (PC-6400)
BFG 8600 GTS OC
Antec earthwatts EA500 ATX12V v2.0 500W Power Supply
Abit IP-35 E

I have all the essentials plugged into my motherboard and have gone through most of the scenarios. I've tried booting the board from outside the case, removing everything but the essentials, trying different ram slots etc, and I still encounter the same problem. When I plug in the power cable and press the power button, everything will power on for a few seconds (CPU fan, both case fans, and even GPU fan will all spin) and then it will shut down for a few seconds, and then turn back on, continually rebooting. There are no beeps.

I've found a few other posts where this is a problem but I cannot find the solution to the problem. Some people said it was the ram voltage being an issue, some say its the CPU overheating so it automatically resets and some say it is because of the mobo BIOS.

I've already cleaned the CPU many times and made sure it is set correctly, so I don't think that is the problem. Also, I'm using the E2180 so it shouldn't have problems like the 8400 or some of the newer chips.

Could it possibly be the ram? The default voltage on my ram is at 1.9v while the mobo requires ram to be at 1.8v? I can't even get it to POST so should I just try to get another stick of ram with a lower voltage for it to boot up?

If it is the mobo itself, would it make a difference if I rma'ed it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a common problem with the P35 chipset motherboards. Try using the BIOS 16 beta 01 found here, it stopped my double-booting problem. You're gonna need to download and use the latest version of awdflash though.

I don't think my problem is quite the same as the double boot problem. I can't even get my system to post.

You do have both power cables plugged in right? The 24-pin and the 4-pin just north-west of the CPU socket?

Yeah, I cleared the CMOS and removed the tiny little battery for like 15 mins as well.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm not sure which item I should RMA or re-purchase. I'm pretty convinced it's the PSU at this point, as the ram should be able to POST and allow me to get into the bios, and the processor seems fine.
