For those of you wondering about a fix for Unstable voltages when Selecting 2.9, 3.0 & 3.1V for the memory, there is a Version of board that has had the Mod done. Mickey at ABit UK wrote to me today saying this & I quote:

"There is a small (a single character A or B or C.....) sticker(can be round and blue or white barcoded) on the PCI slot.
If the character is before A,B,C,D or E, then the board needs this upgrade. If the character is F or G or beyond, then the board is okay."

Those of you wanting your boards modding should be able to return it to ABit for Modification but be sure to have an authorised RMA for this mod before you part company with your MoBo. :)

Well shoot me down in flames why don't ya!

Oh......you did! :D

I only post in here when I think fit. There are many many new-comers in here and lots of folk are still asking about this particular problem.

My answer is factual, truthfull & to the point & answers a point I knew about some time ago myself. This post is only to help those who may not have read the Link you include.

Incidently, I havn't read your above thread & nor do I intend to as it would be a complete waste of time as I already know the answer. However, Mr [H]ATCH now knows as he obviously didn't before so why are you spamming unnecessary Posts? Looking for the magic 4000 i suppose!

thanks for the info Kin Hell

i'll have to check my board later

Look on the Bottom (underside) of PCI slot 5.
Thats where I have a Small White Square sticker with a short Bar code. Mine is labelled F.

As Mickey sez, "F" - onwards denotes the board is modded m8.

Hope ure lucky! :)

Does this apply to only the MAX3? How about the regular and MAX2?

Regular/Max 2 don't even have options for more than 2.8v
