Anyone know if the AA to D battery adapters are any good. I have a bunch of AA rechargeables and would like to just use them instead of buying D batteries when I need it.

I found these on ebay.

Cheap, but anyone know if cheap ones are acceptable? Or would I have to worry about them catching on fire?

I've had some limited success with these adapters. A word of warning however, if you notice they still use the contact points of the AA battery which is a lot smaller than that of a D cell so they won't always work in devices designed for the larger contact size or area of a D cell.

I would say just buy some nimh D cells and be done with it. One thing to note however is that rechargeable AA's are at most rated for 2700mah whereas a "good" rechargeable D cell is upwards of 10,000 to 12,000 mah or more. Don't waste your money on the ones from Energizer or Duracell you find in places like WalMart as they are essentially AA cells in D cell bodies and are only 2500mah.
