the other day, i picked up a bba 9800 pro. i did a fresh installation following brent's rule of: winxp -> sp1 -> all updates -> mainboard drivers -> dx9 -> catalyst 4.1 -> the rest. the card runs beautifully, i must say, but i can't seem to be able to get AA to show up in d3d games. it seems to work fine for opengl though (quake 3). i created a few profiles for the direct3d tab for 4x8x, 6x16x and such, and i seem to get the AF, but no AA. is this a common problem? am i doing something wrong? thanks for all input.

after you change aa settings in the control panel do you reboot your computer?

i find that sometimes i have to reboot in order to get the aa settings to apply

also, some d3d games don't support aa with certain features enabled, like halo, no aa, farcry seems to have some problems, mp2 you have to enable aa from within the games settings, nfs:u aa doesn't work with light trails and motion blur enabled, etc... little things like that

If that's the solution, what's wrong with ATI? That's retarded to have to reboot.

hmm. the games i've tried thus far are nfs:u and ut2k3. i have both light trails and motion blur disabled in nfs:u. one can clearly see how the AA is not being applied in either game. i'll try a reboot in a few minutes to see if it will work. thanks for your comments! :)

i just set the AA/AF level to 4x/8x and rebooted. after the reboot, AA seems to be working :) . perhaps a bit of an annoyance, but at least it's working now. thanks brent!

Delete all your profiles and hit the default button, then change your settings without using profiles. It is a known bug with the profiles since they were introduced in the 3.8 Cat's. Sucks I know. Now you won't need to reboot, which doesn't even fix the settings sometimes.
