I went thru obstacle course then the range then another basic with rooms and cardboard targets.
Finished that and it said final and done and etc
Then it said I had not done the obstacle course.

Same with 203 and grenade training. I did these and it said the last one with the rooms and targets was not completed.

WHAT A F up mess..

must be basic training so you can interact with most gov offices

It's broken, the whole thing's ballsed-up to bits. I'm keeping it installed for a week or so in case it gets fixed because it looks like it could be fun, but this noise about the developers getting shafted doesn't leave me too hopeful.

the authentication servers are bogged down and slow right now, they tend to either take 2-3 hours to aknowledge you have completed a training section even if you're awarded it in game, it's all saved server side basically.

Once it's all calmed down it will be much smoother, loads of people were doing the training on release and still are, it's a much higher than normal load for them to cope with, same with an MMO release really. It's hard to justify about 50x the capacity for the first few days only then to never need it again.

Nah see its part of the game. Just like in real Army basic, if you fail at the easy stuff you get sent back to the front of the line ('recycled'). Eight weeks through basic you can be sent back to day 1 and do everything over again (and every week feels like a month normal time). ;)

Does the training also frequently lock up and require a ctrl-alt-del process close to unfuck it, or load areas with a completely black screen save a HUD? Curious as to how they do things in the US.

I was able to do all my trainings yesterday (finally!) - the M320 training wasn't so bad. I did fine with it. I think I missed the last target (the training where they have a tank and you have to shoot smoke.) but still got expert.

All in all, online play is bad. Half of the time, AA3 causes a BSOD for me. Like someone else, I'll keep it installed for now (not like I'm short on disk space) but I doubt they can fix it in time. The overall feel of the game in terms of aiming feels sloppy. It makes me not want to play. There seems to be massive lag between mouse input and the gun moving (not seen in games like COD4 or TF2 - it isn't mouse lag or LCD lag.) The breating of the gun (movement up and down) feels fake. Aiming seems bollocks up. Online lag is bad.

AA3 as I see it is a total failure. Worst yet, I said it would be months ago to friends who played AA2 and were loving the screenshots of AA3 - frankly, AA3 looks like shit...as bad as AA2 - in 2004 AA2's graphics were OK. Behind the times, but OK. Now they look dated and disgusting. And not being able to turn on antialaising is just bad (I forced it in the NV control panel) - I'll tolerate bad graphics for great gameplay. Give me SS2 and I'll play it and not complain about graphics. Same for stuff like Deus Ex....but AA's gameplay isn't stellar, and so I'm less tolerant.

I suspect it'll be until 3.1 or so until we see any real improvement.

How did the beta testers not see this shit? All the beta testers I talked to loved the game and wanted to have it's children. Closed betas ftl. Closed betas shouldn't be done - just because someone pays money for a fileplanet subscription doesn't mean they can test a game and give feedback/file bugs.

They unlocked the training you not supposed to use it. If you do you are contributing to the problems with the authentication servers.

The Devs of aa3 were fired. Not because of the problems but because the company they work for.

After the recent botched release of America's Army 3, one of the now laid-off development team members had a few things to say about the release:

I worked as a Dev at AA Emeryville for the last year and a half and I hope I can appeal to your rationality and common sense. I would like you to imagine trying to build a game with an impossible deadline, steadily declining workforce (via firings), A hiring freeze, constantly being fed misinformation, having the "higher ups" completely ignore your weekly plea for either A) more time, or B) more manpower, working a ton of unpaid overtime, pouring your heart and soul into a misadventure only to have the uniformed community scoff at you for uncontrollable variables..... RIGHT when you've just lost your job.

There are problems with the release beyond the devs control. In fact, the bureaucracy is so convoluted that you can't even begin to imagine the breadth and scope of B.S. the devs had to deal with daily. in short, imagine being the subcontractor of a subcontractor of a contractor to the government. Sure Millions of dollars may have been poured into this project, but how much do you think made it to the actual DEV team, the people MAKING the game, after it was filtered by the bureaucracy?

I realize if you are a gamer, you rightly expect a game to work. period. But I would ask that you imagine for a second that you actually DON'T understand what it takes to make this particular game, and you really don't understand the many obstacles that were placed in front of the Devs... in nerdy terms: A Kobiyashi maru.

What I would like you to understand is that the Devs did everything they could, worked a TON of unpaid overtime, put their time and passion into an un-winnable situation, and were effectively stabbed in the back. Many of these guys are my close friends, they have family to take care of, and overpriced rent to deal with. They just came off busting their butts for months, to be let go, without warning. Perhaps a little empathy is in order here.

Almost every multiplayer online game has problems upon release. These problems become exaggerated when a development team is kept in constant turmoil and paranoia via misinformation and a high rate of employee turnover. When the people you trust around you are being let go, it becomes difficult to emotionally invest yourself in the titanic sinking ship. Nonetheless, I can tell you the Devs STILL pushed themselves as hard as they could.

Furthermore, the problem with the game at this point, has everything to do with the authentication servers being slammed, A.K.A not a controllable variable by the Devs. Sure there are bugs, they WERE being fixed, and now you'll be lucky to see any fixes in the near future.

For those of you who think Redstone arsenal will do a better job, well.... I won't have to tell you that you're sadly mistaken because you'll see for yourself.

I'm not sure why i've felt compelled to write this when I'm sure it will get deleted, or even scoffed at further, but I hoped to let the fans know that we tried as hard as we could and are very bummed to see the fruits of our labor shoved at gamers like a heaping pile of crap.

One can only hope that a quick patch will turn this game around before the release buzz wears off and it falls off of the radar entirely.

jifffy this is not a flame. Its just that all games now are released before their time.

Ps did anyone play the original AA when it was released?
Man I did.
The basic training was harder then it is now.
Graphics were ok even then. The maps were a lot more engaging and fun then they are now. There were not a lot of them but even the basic training maps were a blast.

The thing was back then as it is now, WHO IS THE ENEMY?
Back then everyone looked exactly the same. The only difference was the enemy did not have fanny packs..
FUCK that was a screwed up mess. SO they finally went with the black tiger stripe for the enemy.
That is exactly the problem now. its a bitch to tell who is who.

REMEMBER dumb ass designers this is a game<<<get that G A M E...its played on a monitor<<<< I don't have 3d view or Peripheral vision. You should not think that I do.
NO 2 monitors have the same color or shades of color. OH THE ENEMY DOES NOT WEAR HATS. ( think there is a joke there) Give me a fucking break if you had to change in the original why did you change back to bs.
