I recently installed a Gigabit lan and the computer that has an ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo with a Marvell gigabit on board lan will only connect at 100 mbs. The other computers will connect at 1 Gigabit/s. I have installed the latest drivers with no joy.

Any suggestions??:(

make sure you are using gigabit rated cable that supports gigabit speeds.. also you may have to manually set the lan device to use gigabit speeds instead of 100mbit..

It turns out that the problem was with a mechanical switch that I was using to switch the ethernet from one computer to another. As soon as I connected the cable direct from the router to the computer, it connected at 1 gig.

The question now remains, is there a replacement switch (mechanical or electronic) that can do the same thing and still connect at 1 gig. I need this setup to maintain computers.

you could use a second network card and bridge the connections between that computer and the other one.. though id go with buying a cheap gigabit switch instead..
