Hello,
I plan on getting a A8N32-SLI. I have two Geforce BFG 6800 Ultras. Will I have room for my soundcard? What other cards can go on the moboard with the video cards. Any idea? If the sound card does'nt fit, do we have to use the onboard sound? Comparable to my Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs?
Why did they make the moboard so small?
thanks

I do not believe you will be able to fit a sound card in there. The bottom 6800U's cooler will hang over the last pci slot. You are kind of limited in terms of space when you move to SLI. I guess thats the price you pay for that kind of raw power.

yes you can fit one pci soundcard if youre using 2 dual slot vid cards.

I was just at the asus website and did'nt read anywhere, where the A8N32-SLI has a onboard sound? Does it have onboard sound?

I was talking with another guy who had a a8N32-SLi and he said with the soundcard so tight in the moboard it got really hot. Heat was an issue. True????

Yes it has onboard audio. The board uses the AC '97 Realtek ALC850Codec. Having the sound card right up against 2 powerful video cards would probably generate a lot of heat problems, but I would think Asus thought of that when they were designing the board. I hope they come out with a 32SLI Premium that has a little better layout of the PCI and PEG slots.

here is a pic from a previous post I had replied to. I put a 6800GT OC heatsink on the other pci-e for another user to give him/her an idea of how much room is availible.

I have been told time and time again you cannot, can anyone confirm this?

Well I'm buying it with the understanding that you can probably at most fit one full size pci card in there and a half card, i.e. 1394 card. I'm going to water cool my entire rig so I should save some room there.
