What is the highest FSB anyone has gotten one of these motherboards? A computer tech friend of mine said he couldnt get it past 220 mhz. I am getting a 3200+ unlocked, and my ram can handle 240mhz, so I was hoping to do 240fsb.

Anyone know how high this motherboard will go?

Well I have a A7N8X deluxe 2.0 (which is almost exactly the same as the -E) and the highest I've been able to get to is 216. But even there it seems to be unstable in a way I can't quite put my finger on (might be my ram though). So I run mine at 206x12.5=2575. If you want a NF2 board that can do high fsb's then I would recommend an Abit NF7-S, DFI Lanparty II, or Abit AN7 (not too sure about this one, but I have heard of some success). The A7N8X just isn't an overclocking board. Don't buy it if you plan to overclock. I made that mistake. You shouldn't.

btw, 240fsb is a little much to hope for with a NF2 board. Maybe if you get really lucky you'll get a board that can do it but it's not likely. Maybe 230 at most on the boards that I recommended, but even that can be a long shot.

the dfi infinity/lanparty b will most likely be able to do 240fsb, as long as you cool the chip/nbb sufficiently. the an7 is able to do 240 in some cases, but not all. the nf7-s is likely to get about 230 or so depending on the bios used. not having used any boards except the asus a7n8x i'm on right now (tops out at 195... grr) i'd say the an7 would be your best bet because the dfi boards have some issues which can take some getting used to from what i've heard/seen.

good luck!

Haha, you're lucky u missed the whole "400FSB" fiasco with the 1.04 and 1.06 boards. Um, I used to have a 1.06 board--it hit 190fsb with the 1004 bios, but that's it. At least you didn't have to go thru that madness (or the early Soundstorm crackling problems).

From now on tho, I am definitely looking at Abit before Asus tho (939 perhaps? But i wonder if they will have an "NF7-S" for those boards. We'll see).

*EDIT*
omg, I didn't notice before. You have the same kind of RAM as me. I pretty much top out at 215 (214 runs, but with some random errors)...if someone else with an A7N8X with like some LL or better sticks could provide their opinion, it'd be nice.

Yeah...The ram sucks. I ordered the 3200LLPT from TigerDirect.com and what do you know, they sent me the 3200C2PT. Wasn't going to bother with their customer service so I kept them. Oh well. I'll never buy from them again

Damn, I hope you didn't pay too much (but then we are talking about tigerdirect, lol).

I actually chose the PT's (from eXcaliber.com) cuz the LL's are $40 more...yeah, i'm trying to stay in my budget, so no "ultra nice" ram for me.

Thanks, I wish i knew that before I bought the 3200+(it was an unlocked 3200, and that is what I was looking for 0314). Oh well it will still run at 2.6 ghz 210 fsb.

Thats going from a 2800 that does 2.38 ghz at 183 fsb. I will sell that for $90 shipped and only spend 60 for the upgrade.

I will post my findings here.
