A7N8X Delux + Sata problems

I finally bought a SATA harddrive from Western Digital. Anyways the SATA cables that comes with just connects to the SATA on my mobo, but there is no power source??
I must be a newb here or something because when I had my raptors, I had to use a molex converter to hook the 2 up.

Anyways, other then that
I cant get my drive recognized on this mobo, Ive turned the jumper settings on and everything??
What am I doing wrong?

you need to connect the power still
but likely it requires an SATA power connector
not a 4 pin molex, either you need an adapter or a new PSU with those

Yeah see thats waht I dont understand
The cable that WD gave me had the power and the cable all togther running off the single connector from my mobo which I am pretty sure does not have any power going thru it.
So what I Did, I took a molex plug, which I then had a SATA power splitter laying around as well and then it worked, but I still couldent install windows onto it becauseit wasnt being dectected on POST, but rather when getting ready for a raid setup???

in order to install windows on it set it to boot from cd, place cd in drive. it will go to the boot from cd line, hit enter. When windows installer comes up you need to look at the bottom and when it says "press f6 to install third party drivers' hit f6 so you can load the raid drivers off a floppy then windows will see it.

Well why would I need 3rdparty drivers to install SATA?
I used that f6 option when I used my 74gig raptors in raid, but I aint doing that anymore.
Or does it even matter?

it doesn't matter if you are doing raid or not, you need thoes drivers for it to see the SATA drives. Trust me i have that board and am using a single raptor as my primary drive

The A7N8X doesn't have the SATA controller as part of the chipset, that's why you ALWAYS need 3rd party drivers loaded during windows setup in order to install to it. Other mobos may or may not have this issue.
