I'm new to overclocking things for myself. I have an A7N8X Deluxe mobo and an AMD 2600+ XP.
I'm assuming "CPU External Frequency" under advanced chipset settings in my BIOS is my front side bus right?
That was set to 165. (I have 1 gig of Geil 3200 ram btw). A friend told me I probably could step that up to 200. Well, this morning I stepped it up to 185, and it ran, 3D Marked it, everything seemed fine, but it lost stability after a reboot.
The highest I am able to get it is 175 without the system not booting, or failing to boot all the way. Is this because I need to raise my vcore voltage or something else? My temps are fine, 37-40c. I am not running a stock heatsink, it's a nice model ( I forget which, has a huge traffic cone orange fan with adjustable speed sitting on top of it.) With arctic silver applied.

In my newb stage of OC'ing my only guess is I need to up my voltage, which is currently at 1.65v I believe.

My multiplier is at 12.5 also (I think.)

Well, if that vcore that u posted is default, then yes u gotta prolly raise ur vcore to get a higher overclock, but be careful, dont do the vcore too high

Raise the voltage in the smallest increments you can until you get stability at the desired OC. If you want a 200fsb on a locked 2600...you might be out of luck. But just raise it a little and then raise the FSB a little. Rinse and repeat. Just keep in mind increases in voltage exponentially increase heat output.
