Okay Guys,

This is my system:

a64 3200+
ASUS K8V Deluxe K8T800
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro
Kingwin KT436WM
Powmax 500 Watt PS
Corsair TwinX (2X256) PC 3200

A couple of questions:
1. Since it's single channel would KingMax PC3500 be better. It's on sale at newwegg. Heck is Kingmax compatible? I have heard horror stories about mem compatibility. If so, I will be posting the twinX under FS soon. Figure it will go fast...

2. I went with the powmax. It has mixed reviews. Bad choice?

3. Finally, what the heck bus speed does the a6 4 3200+ run at? (i.e. 266,333,400, etc)

Also, Let me know what you guys think of the config...

1. Get yourself Mushkin, Corsair, or Kingston memory and check with others that have your board because A64 chipsets are horrible for memory compatibility.

2. Yea i would say thats a bad choice. For two reasons. First you dont need anything near a 500w PSU and second wattage rating doesn't mean squat and you need to only buy name brand PSU's in which Powmax is not even close. Get an Antec True Power 430w from Newegg.

3. It runs at 200Mhz so you only need PC3200 or PC3500.

The RAM and the PSU are the two most important pieces of hardware in your case. Dont buy cheap non name brand stuff because it will cost you later. Especially since your forking it out for an A64 3200+ in the first place.

Nice choices, except for one thing. Since the Athlon64 is single-channel, get yourself a single 512MB DIMM. Or, better yet, get yourself two 512MB DIMM's. You'll thank yourself later for getting a gig of RAM.

So I should stick with the Corsair I got. Cool. I was just wondering, so I will get a stick of 512 corsair and go with 1 gig.

I was afraid I made a bad choice here. I have had good luck in the past with generic PSU's but we all know I could just have been lucky in the past. I am already looking at getting a Forton.

thanks for the input. BTW, the above config cost 600 bucks (outside of ram which I already had). newegg refurbs rock if you know what you are doing and have the patience of Job...
