Which Socket 939 Athlon 64 processor would be faster than Socket 754 Athlon 64 3700+? Would there be a good perforamce boost? I need some inputs please :)

depends on the application. some things, the 3800+ is faster, others, the 3700+ is faster. thus of all the options, my vote went to it.
the 3500+ and 3400+ are almost always slower, except in extremely bandwidth sensitive applications.

though the chips that are definitly faster than the 3700+, even if not a lot:
4000+/FX-53 (same specs, thus i consider it the same chip)
FX-55

as a general rule of thumb, you can follow amd's PR ratings . they exist for a reason, though not always right  :D

get a 3200 and OC it past the 3500 and 3800 instead.

Getting the 3200 saves you money on CPU, put that money towards bad ass ram :)

I wouldn't trade my 3700+ for the world, but, I suppose if you could get the 3800+ over 2.6GHz it would beat the stock 3700+ at everything. The 4000+ is definately a step above the 3700+ though. They are the same thing, just that the 4000+ has twice as much memory bandwidth, provided you have a matched pair of memory.

kinda funny how dual channel adds anywhere from 0-15% more performance, with the average case being around 5%, yet they decided to bring up the PR number 300pts. though i guess that is 8%. never mind. :p
