A64 s754 3000+ Overclock Declining

my s754 newcastle athlon 64 3000+ used to be able to do 2.4 ghz 240x10 at stock voltage, then i had to bump it up in every step gradually up to 1.7v, now i have to run it at stock, does this happen to chips over time? or could it be my HSF or powersupply or something I am overlooking?

How hot was it running? What HSF are you using? What PSU are you using?

A bit more info would help ;)
 
Im using a TT Venus 12, with an Antec 400w power supply, load temps with the overclock were like 55c, sometimes up to 60c under extreme conditions.
 
yah amds dont seem to like the heat as much

degredation over time does happen, its just pretty rare unless your pumping extreme volts through the chip or have lack luster cooling
 
so it couldnt be i need to replace the power supply or anything? just a new chip? :) an excuse finally!
 
yeah, my friend is havin computer troubles, so im gonna sell him this setup for a low price, and use that to offset the cost of a venice and a new mobo

my PSU is at fault though, i tried 2.8 and blew it to hell :p specs in sig, psu came with my raidmax 868 cause i was trying to save my mum money :( i regret it now, belive me ;)
