A64 Overclocking Help? Whats HTT?

Just got an A64 3000 and Neo2 I've been overclocking for years but this setup is a bit tricky, I've already scanned the forums and threads, I need to know what exactly is HTT and how does it relate to the FSB. Basically I need some theorhetical background so I can understand how this all works. Also any tips or tricks I should know about the Neo2 ?

HTT is FSB. just another name for it and people are lazy. it's supposed to be called htt... but in most bioses, it's referred to as fsb because that is the 'accepted' naming convenction :(
 
You have the HTT ratio (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x) and the CPU FSB.

You want to keep the HTT speed as close to 1000mhz (HTT ratio * cpu fsb) as possible.

EX:
200 FSB * 5x = 1000 MHz
250 FSB * 4x = 1000 MHz
300 FSB * 3x = 900 MHz


Don't go over 1000mhz...
 
HTT is the HyperTransport Link. It is the Athlon 64's Front side bus.


Do whatever you can to keep it close or at 1000Mhz. Not over.

Most times - won't work no matter what you do.

Rarely - nothing and you get insane speeds (I believe people have gotten stable at 1200)
 
(HT x LTD multiplyer ) x 2 = HTT
Same HT x CPU multiplyer = CPU speed

So for a stock AMD 64 socket 939 3800+ its like this

5 x 2 = 2000Mhz HTT
200<
12 = 2400Mhz CPU

Theres two diffrent multiplyers, one that makes the HTT and one that makes the CPU speed, so I guss FSB is liek the HTT, but not really. Peeps jsut call it FSB because there used to it. Im not very good a decribing it, but I did my best....

At the moment im running
225HT x 5LTD for 1125Mhz HTT up and down thats 2250MhzHTT
Cpu 12x multiplyer for a fairly even 2700Mhz
This is a ASUS SLI Nf4

Last setup was an epox Nf3 s939, the max before i had to drop the LTD multiplyer to 4x was 220 for 2200Mhz HTT

Before that MSI NEO2....only went to about 2150Mhz HTT before craping.

Before that was a DFI UT s754, it ran 2000Mhz HTT on a 1600Mhz HTT s754 CPU...

See they go up a bit...But you right, not by much... I had to pull out my note pad for all that old info....
