I just bought an Asus K8V and Athlon64 3400+ and after I install windows xp and install the via hyperion 4.51 drivers off of the asus cd everything goes to hell. Windows reboots and the screen looks totally corrupt... with bars running down the screen vertically and its impossible to read anything. even the windows xp boot screen is corrupt. I updated the BIOS to the newest 1003 version but it didnt fix anything. If i dont install any hyperion drivers it seems to be okay.. but aren't they necessary for optimal performance??? Has anyone else had this problem before?

The video card im using is an ati radeon 8500... but ive also tried a 9800 pro and had the same problem.

edit: ive also tried catalyst 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 drivers on both cards and nothing seems to work...

no everything is bone stock.

i want to get it working properly before i try to overclock it and break it
