Hey guys, I just started OCing my system, running prime95 for an hour now. The VCore is around 1.675 [CPU-Z] and I'm getting 61C under full load. Do you guys think this temperature is safe? I don't plan on leaving prime95 on for years, and when I'm doing heavy gaming it seems to goto about 58-59C. What do you guys think? Safe? Not safe? Better to run at stock?

Also, here's the thing about the Zalman cooler I have...I didn't bother installing the fan controller. Do you guys think that could be a problem? Maybe it's running in silent mode and that's why my cooling sucks?
 
Running in silent mode is prob why you are getting the temp. Run it in regular mode. Plus your temp is not all that bad. Make sure you applied your Themal Paste(hopefully AS5) correctly. My A64 3200+ is running 43°C under Prime95......with stock cooling...
 
it all depends on the mobo also, i think all NF3 boards read temps very high
when i first got my 3200+ installed in my K8N neo watercooled the temps idel were like 50C tried a few bios updates (official and beta) some read it somewhat correctly and others not so i think its up to the mobo manufacture to fix via a bios update
 
I've tried SpeedFan, MBM5, and the program that came with my mobo, they all read it at those termps. Funny thing is I knocked my vcore back to stock and my load temps are now 55C [in other words, going from 1.6 to 1.675 brought up my heat by 5C]. I'm going to install the fan mate controller today, among a few other things. If this keeps up I think I'm going to get in touch with Epox, see what they say. I really do hope that I'm just getting wonky readings.
 
The fac that Ui didnt use the controller doesnt make it run in silent mode, you are running on full power now.
(Think about it, the control box can only lower the current, by turning the current into heat, via a rheostat (i think its called) thats why the little box has a heatsink in it.
The rheostat turns current into heat thus lowering the current the fan is recieving.
so no control box is full power.

Maybe your thermal compound needs curing or u used to much/little
 
thats a fairly good temp. id guess that your mobo is over reporting though. i run at full load 24/7(folding@h), and i max out at around 58. im useing an alcu useing the mobo to automaticaly controll the fan speed(it av.s around 2300, maxs around 2700). look at sig for more details.
 
Well personally I have no issues running it at 60C full load, I guess I'm gonna go for the gold. Just OC the crap out of it and see what happens.
