A64 3000+ OC are these good temps?

I just overclocked my A64 3000+ venice to 2205mhz (245x9) on stock cooling. I ran Prime95 torture test for about 6 hours and it passed all the tests. I also used Speedfan to monitor my temps while doing this test. It runs @ 35-36C idle and averaged 42.5C on full load running Prime95. I was wondering if these are good temps or is this too hot? I'm eventually planning on getting an XP-90 cooler but not for a while.

I'd say on stock cooling that's pretty darn good. An XP-90 should probably drop those 5 degrees or so. Well done :)

My 3000+ just arrived yesterday, along with my Zalman 7700. Those temps sound pretty good. I was getting around the same thing with my old trusty AthlonXP 1700+ with a bigger copper heatsink.

Check my sig :) Stock cooling, 45C idle at 1.65V and 2.6Ghz. Granted, you've got lower speeds, but you're still quite a bit colder than me. I'd call it good.

Excellent for stock cooling. I get about 32C idle and 39 load with a Zalman 7700 al-cu with my A 64 3000+ @ 2100MHz.

Those are about the same temps i get with my 3000+ w/ stock cooler @2.475ghz 1.475 Volts. I got an xp-90 on the way, we'll see how far that will get me.

Those are definately decent temps for stock cooling.

My temps are similar to yours except for I am at 2500 @ 1.55v with a Aerocool HT-101 with dual 80mm fans rated at 34CFM

ok I have 2x512 sticks of Corsair ValueRam..the settings are now 2.5-3-3-7..I was wondering if I can change these to increase the speed of my overall system?

looks pretty normal to me, if not awesome. I, myself am running a really crappy stepping, and had to up the vcore to 1.6v, i get 47c full load on a zalman 7000-alcopper hybrid

Are you using the 1T option instead of the 2T? That will make a significant difference.

What is your ram rated at?

You could try CAS 2 and see if its usable.

See sig............

Room temps between 18C and 20C so that helps but all my last few systems have run cool.

Invest in a great case with an excellent layout and airflow paths and then use only 120MM fans speed controlled via PS and/or potentiometer to keep things quiet.

My case temp is 21c right now, I have a 92mm rear exhaust and 3 80mm intakes 2 front one side. I find good airflow is more of a factor than case pure fan size sometimes while admittedly if I had 3 120s my case temp would be a little lower.

Also, for some reason my system shuts off and restarts at random times while in windows..but i know its not due to my OC (I hope) because I monitor my cpu temps constantly and it never goes higher than 44C..any ideas?

Turning off and restarting in windows randomly is one of the biggest signs that your OC isnt stable or you have a bad memory stick or your timings are to fast. I am pretty sure Corsair Value Ram isnt 2-2-2-5. Its probably 2.5.-3-3-6 Try doing a prime95 torture test and see if you get any errors within 1 hour.

You never mentioned if you raised your vcore yet. If not, but it up one notch (1.412 i think) should help stability. Your corsair vs ram might get by at cas 2, (2-3-3-7) but I would work on the stability first, and leave the ram at auto for now. Ram might need a little volt boost also, my corsair xms runs fine at 2.75v (240mhz)

Silly me, I found out why my computer was restarting randomly, the power cord was not plugged in correctly into the wall outlet, but now I fixed it.

Lol, it's usually the little things that get overlooked when troubleshooting. Especially when oc'ing. Good find.
