I took this on the weekend at Murray's Beach Jervis Bay, NSW Australia. sure, anyone could take it, but I think it looks ok. I have a better one with my g/f in it, but I don't think she'd appreciate it being posted. ;)

any hints / tips for next time?

A general rule to keep in mind is to not put the horizon in the middle of your photo ... this follows in the basic direction of the rule of thirds. While people prone to breaking rules are not fond of this rule, I kind of like the rule for many shots I do.

Second, the horizon in your shot is slanted...I'd work on straightening it up.

I cannot personally focus on any specific aspect of the shot ... in other words, my eye does not know where to look to find a subject of interest. Maybe if there was a boat or something that might be cool.

Good luck!

mdude, i really dont think his horizon looks like it's dead in the middle.

i like the picture, by the way, nice shot achtung.

i agree with mdude about the horizon(straightening and staying from the center) i may not be dead on center but it is closer to the middle than the rule of thirds. this photo wouldnt be bad for a desktop or something of the sort- that beach looks beautiful. in future shots may i recommend staying away from normal viewing(ie eye level shots) next time try to get low to the sand or maybe get up high. it can make for some appealing angles.

i also agree with mdude. i was just about to comment about splitting the photo in half :)

anyway, nice colours, you could always try to do a bit of cropping to get a more even stype shot.

looks like a nic ebeach though :)
