for $144.00 you are willing to go with a $10-20 more expensive card just cause it has a noisy fan?
 
This is what you want, here ya go Look at the db chart, 12db (biggest spread) I wouldn't toss more money away just for a card u will get rid of one day just cause it was little more quiet.

The most quiet one there and overall winner is the $173 Leadtek. You're looking at card for $144 is it really worth $30 more that it's quiet? You got a baby in the same room or something?
 
hey, I own an eVGA 6600GT AGP graphics card. I like it alot but the one thing I don't like is the fan. I baught a new one (the pure copper Zalman one). That's what I'd recommend, although the stock one was pretty decent just everynow and then it'd rattle a bit.

I guess we should clear this up, Are you looking for the AGP version or PCI-e?
 
The link he has posted at the top of the thread is an AGP version so I'm assuming he's talking about an AGP card.
 
I just sent a EVGA 6600GT PCI-E back to newegg. It worked for about a week and a half then blew on me. Everything was ok until I went into ANY game and then it got horribe flashy pixelations:

I am getting a X800xl in return mid-next week!
 
Okay it technically does have a few problems fitting but here I'll tell you why it still is good:

  • the ramsinks can't fit on the memory chips. but it's GDDR3, who needs ramsinks? they stay cool enough already
  • the HSI bridge chip thing needs something so you have a choice, leave the stock HSI heatsink on it or put one of the blue ramsinks on it. I put one of the ramsinks on it and it works great.
  • and last thing is the fan sticks off the side of the video card but it makes the computer insides look cooler in my opinion. Just make sure that you don't need anything big in the PCI slot below the graphics card, it takes up a lot of room.

I have an eVGA 6600GT PCI-E, it's not loud, it just works with no problems so far. It is a solid card. Good Purchase.
 
Yea,my bro had that problem lastnight he downloaded some new drivers and it screwed his pc,but I got it back working for him by putting on old drivers.
