I used to think the same thing about dead pixels. That is, one is too many. The first 2001FP I got had a dead red pixel near the middle. I only noticed it when coding since my editor background was black.
I asked for a new one, and it had a dead green pixel. But it was off to the side near the bottom. The kicker is, I love this puppy in portrait mode. When swiveled, the dead pixel is top left.
Anyway, man that sucker is so small and not red (not really noticeable) that I just don't see it unless I'm looking for it really hard.
It just wasn't worth the effort to order another one, risk getting a worse one and packaging up and sending back all thse LCD's for something you honestly can't notice.
I hear ya, but for the $ you're saving by going with Dell, on a screen that big, you may just find a dead green pixel off to the side isn't that bad. Granted, I only spent $500. For a grand I might try a third LCD.
It's not as bad as I thought it would be. And I'll probably only have it for 12-18 months. I'm already drooling over the 4ms Viewsonic's. As soon as these companies start offering up zero dead pixel policies with 4ms 20"+ LCD's, this 2001FP is going to my wife.
