That sounds really neat, but I'm afraid that the monitor would display very jaggedly as those old MAME games had poor resolution, I think.
 
You can upscale the resolution and add filtering to smooth out the edges with most MAME programs. Not sure if you could do it at that high of a resolution though. This is something I will try out once I get my 2005FPW.
 
This was something I was looking forward to trying out when and if I ever got the monitor. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking since everything about this monitor has been way beyond my expectations. 1920x1200 is supported by default in the list of selectable resoltutions in Mame 32 so there is no need to scale down the image. an anti-aliasing filter is applied to smooth the image out.

If you notice any blurring it's because of my camera. I played a bit of UT2004 and CS:S and I see a small amount of blurring when moving quickly but it doesn't bug me or effect my performance at all. In some ways it's kind of cool because in real life when you turn that quickly you see blurring as well. The vibrancy and sharpness of the monitor counter any blurring I notice so the overall picture is much more pleasing than my old CRT.

Damn dudes. I didnt even know I needed a new monitor until I stumbled onto these beauties everywhere. No wonder no one shuts up about these!
 
Thanks for the idea K10. I've had a MAME cabinet since 2001 and have always wanted to play those vertical shooters the way they were intended. I have the 2005FPW and never thought of it. Gonna have to give it a try. MAME is so addicting.

I might just have to buy a 2nd 2005FPW to put it in my MAME cabinet.
