Will you be using the external monitor in conjunction with the laptop monitor?

Does your XPS send video out in 4K? If not, then getting the P2715Q would be a waste.

XPS 13 has a max resolution of QHD+ (3200 x 1800), not quite 4K. So in your opinion, QHD+ on a 4K monitor is a waste?
I wouldn't buy a 4K monitor if my computer couldn't handle that resolution. You could try DPI scaling to offset any text/image quality problems. Not sure how it would look, though. Also, 4K (or very close) on a 27" screen can be very hard on the eyes. I tried 4K on a 40" and still developed some eyestrain. Had to get 49" to view 4K comfortably.

Xps 13 outputs full 4k no problem, just make sure you get a TB3 adapter and don't use a usb video adapter.

(i have a 9360)

I'd get the DELL XPS with just full HD. Honestly battery life is far more important than a pretty display which will be black after 5 hours lol.
