UI - huge improvement over PS3 UI in smoothness, design is so so
Controller - this controller is super comfy, i should get another one for PC
knack - i made big mistake of starting game on HARD so i wasn't really into it early chapters ( getting one shot left and right ) but all of that changed once i became BIG :> it's very satisfying to smash tanks planes and enemies that used to one shot you, NOW I SMASH YOU

I agree and I admit that I bought a PS4 just to have it. I have a PC that runs every game on ULTRA. I just felt the "need" to have it, lol. Also, there are some PS4 exclusive games that I want to play.
Yup, same here -- I had to have one as well. Killzone and Knack are not great arguments for a day one PS4 purchase, although Resogun is must have/must play if you really like shooters. My HTPC runs all games on Ultra as well but it'll never run Killzone, or any of the usual Sony exculsive franchises.

I love the system so far, most things about it are above and beyond better than what the PS3 had to offer. The PSN Store is a step back, and no notifications for when friends go online is a bummer too (Unless there is a way to turn it on?).

It's the best console to own if you already have a strong PC. Sony exclusives will never appear on PC for the forseeable future.

Not sure I agree with that statement. XBox One console exclusives wont be on PC either, and based off of last gen the amount of console exclusives titles was relatively close to even

They can't help themselves.

Here is my take so far...

+ Awesome controller, while similar to previous Dualshocks, it feels completely different. I used it a bunch with headphones plugged in as well, worked well
+ Smooth UI and everything loads pretty fast. When I press the PS button, the UI opens immediately. Going from a game to Hulu and then back to the game is almost instant.
+ Great graphics. Though admittedly, I started off pretty "meh" on the visuals. Then I set my TV to 1:1 pixel mapping and disabled all of the stupid TV post processing shit. Now it is just straight 1080P from the console to the display. Killzone and Resogun look really impressive

- Wonky UI. It is smooth, but I miss the game splash screens from the PS3. There is a lot of stuff I don't want to look at in the UI and you can't get rid of it. Also, I totally don't get how I was looking at the game manuals and stuff two days ago, and now I can't get that to show up at all.
- Killzone. Terrible level design, unclear objectives at some points, magically spawning enemies, and a bad save system with checkpoints ranging between 45 seconds to 20 minutes apart. Overall it is fun and I like the gunplay, but they should have done better

I beat Killzone and I have to say the story line is as bad as Crysis 3. Seriously, They are making things seem so damn important and dire when the atmosphere really doesn't make it seem so.

And Tyran... Oh my god what the hell is that? Bad voice acting, terrible character models.. and I have no idea how that guy is even considered a "bad guy"

Atleast the game looks and plays great, multiplayer is fun. The story line is god awful though. And random crap spawning in single player is just retarded.

I guess I should have stated quality console exclusives. My bad. ;)

I plugged mine in today after it sitting in my living room since launch.

I half expected it to be DOA, but everything seems perfectly fine. I really like the controller, feels much better than the old ones I think. Played a little Resogun and fucked around with Netflix. Might pick up Assassin's Creed.

Can I download the entire game off PSN? My connection is fast, so I don't give a shit about downloading like 30gb, but how well PSN holds up is another story. The update was a pain in the ass to get going, so I think PSN is getting its ass fucking hammered at the moment.

People are most likely getting the systems in today if they missed the Friday cut off date.

;). Go back to cheerleading the Xbone bruh, do you even own a PS4? 'Cause you ain't fooling anyone around here that you are a Microsoft Shill.

Keep telling yourself that. Also, easy enough considering so far the XBone exclusives are getting better reviews than the PS4 exclusives at this point in time

Again, did you answer me question? I'll reply back when you actually answer a legitimate question instead of cheerleading your favorite system.

Now if you don't have anything to add here (since you don't own the system, clearly) go back to enjoying your Ryse, Forza, and Dead Rising. With Forza being the only thing remotely good on the system. Killer Instinct is a joke of a fighter. Killzone is a joke of a story line too don't get me wrong, but the MP is still pretty solid.

maybe read some other threads or posting history in which i provided a PSN name proving the fact that i do in fact own a PS4, and also bought a controller, NBA 2k14, Assassins Creed, Killzone, Injustice, COD, Lego Super Heroes. Who knows. And the Same killer Instinct that is getting higher scores than killzone lol

Well congrats, and go on then. Killer Instinct is still a joke of a fighter. And I still lol every time I see people play that. It has zero depth in comparison to the likes of Street Fighter.

depth is a matter of preference. Personally i dont play fighters very much in general, which means a lack of depth, especially if i have any interest in playing online is preferable.

The only games i play enough to really dig into their depth is MMO's. Wow i played extensively as i did the original Guild Wars (Guild Wars 2 pvp system is garbage compared to ones). In GW my Guild was ranked top 30 in the world while I was actively playing and healing.

I wont even go near a game like street fighter online because it doesnt interest me enough to learn it well enough to be even remotely competitive.

I guess I'm the complete opposite, I usually just play MMO's casually as they are a huge time sink. Fighters I've played since I was a kid so I guess that was a "huge" time investment in itself, so I feel like its pretty easy to get into them.

Different strokes for sure.

why do you 2 care so much? Why do you have to be 'dude on the internet who wins an arugument' ... do you see what you're arguing about? Who cares? If you actually do, you're pathetic. You're arguing about video game consoles. Whoopty doo.

lets just say reviewing Software Configuration Management Documents is rather dry and this being on my 3rd monitor provides a fairly decent sanity break

The fanboyism and the "lol's" are making me lol.

There's nothing revolutionary about either system, and the games aren't anything to scoff at. Why can't we just accept this and move the fuck on?

Keep on lol'ing bro! That last one was already my comment on "moving on". But I guess you didn't catch on to it quick enough.

Let's get back to talking about the PS4 and not the Xbone please.

Technically, TECHNICALLY, you said Xbone first, or at least microsoft

I'll keep on doing it! Thanks for your blessing!

On topic, I did get a chance to actually play Knack and Killzone this weekend on a buddy's system, he decided to keep it and not sell it like I did. Knack was ok and entertaining to a degree. Killzone reminded me of how much I hate FPS on consoles, but the graphics sure were nice, no complaints there. Story seemed like shit for the first hour and a half, that's all I could take.

I feel for you...I'm sitting here watching Netflix on my third screen and coding on the other two. Join me?

Trust me, Killzone's story line doesn't get better. Lol :D. I'm in Engineering so I guess I can join you guys as well as this is on another monitor.

It might seem like I'm trolling or flamebaiting to some degree, or perhaps even just blatantly hating on the PS4, but I just honestly don't see a point in it...RIGHT NOW. At this point in time...I don't see it as worthy of a purchase, and more specifically, a purchase FOR MYSELF.

From what I saw this weekend, Killzone wouldn't be a $60 purchase, and Knack would definitely not be a $60 purchase. Now if Uncharted was out, I'd have kept mine and wouldn't have dreamed of selling it, but that's just not the situation. I also sure as shit wouldn't keep the console for those third-party games (not that they're bad by any means, just saying).

If youve seen one of the main release titles and it doesnt seem worth it to you, then by all means dont buy one yet. Honestly, im a gadget person, in a previous posting ive stated the fact that i own wii, wii u, 360, ps3, psp, ps vita, ps2, ps3, 3ds, 3ds xl etc. I was always going to buy both. The launch of both of these consoles just so happened to be the month that i get 3 pay checks and having them both pre ordered and bought means i wont be dealing with any form of manufacturing shortages when the games do start to come out that you deciding not to adopt yet may face

It's funny. I can pair my Harmony Ultimate with the PS4 but once I turn off the system it won't find it again and I have to pair it all over. Too bad as using the remote on the system works very nicely.

Have any of you that pre-ordered from amazon got your psn 1 year subscription code in email yet?

No worries, fully understood.

I wouldn't pay $60 for any of the games either, I was able to get all the games at a price of 39.99 plus tax. Killzone and specifically Knack is not worth the $60, Killzone single player is so terribad, and its only saving grace (IMO) is the multiplayer.

Say what? I didn't know I was getting anything for preordering from Amazon besides the console itself...

$40 is still robbery, again, for me. No, $40 or $60 isn't anything that'll affect my day to day living (on the contrary actually), I just don't see the value. I really don't. Nor am I hungering for some new-gen console multiplayer.

Outside of the DS/3DS system, I also own all of those consoles and gadgets, but at this junction, I don't see the worth of the new consoles, especially when I have a solid PC, and so many other games on the other consoles to play. Maybe I'll change my tune in 7-8 months, who knows. I'm hoping I do, because hey, more games means more fun.

I like to think of myself as being the type of person who enjoys getting new things (hell, I buy the new iPad every single time, and the newest performance increase for my car every year), but sometimes I just do not see a continuing value, as is the case here, where we've kind of ran into a wall, as the consoles aren't quite as good as PC's, and the games aren't anything extra revolutionary. Do we need the latest things all the time? No, but I sure do like having the latest, but there's SPECIFICS to it, which range from what we really WANT (in my case, I'd rather have the new car part), to what really NEED to have.

Idk, I'm ranting at this point.

Well if you got a launch bundle for 499 it was supposed to come with a game and 1 year psn subscription... I got the game but not my subscription code. Amazon says I should get it 2 days after shipping and it shipped on Thursday. Just wondered dering if anyone got them yet.

Edit... Just got it via email... Wonder if it adds to the 30 day trial or just over rides it?

I really did buy the console just to play Resogun...
and the controller, but I ended up getting a bit more out of it.
They give you $10 to spend, so I got Flower and Sounds Shapes. Flower is dope, I need some weed. Sound Shapes is the same PS3 game, but I never played it, way cool I like. Who knows how many hours of Resogun, Contrast came as part of PS+
too, but I haven't even played it yet. Streaming is cool to watch too, Jonathan Blow had a Resogun stream on saturday and was answering whatever questions, that was fun. Pretty amusing. I ran the controller down twice this weekend.

I think I like it.

"Clearly" right? I own 3 Xbox 360's in my own home. I just don't like what Microsoft is doing. And will not be getting an Xbox until something good comes out that isn't Halo, Gears, Forza. Oh, and I know I'm cool ;););).

Anyways back on topic AGAIN.

Glad you're liking the system Leviathan. I'm actually impressed how well the Vita remote play function works, and resogun is pretty sick on it.

Have you tried over the net, yet?
That always had me wondering, obviously theres a little latency, but I want to know if the video looks better than say, Onlive?

Did the Target buy 2 get 1 free deal (so 3 games for $120), sold one of the games for $40 to a friend and the one of the others is a Xmas gift. I wouldn't have thrown down $60 for Killzone either, but for $40 it's good fun and a nice tech demo :p

I have a monster watercooled PC and a TItan, but I am really enjoying my PS4. I got KZ, M25 & NBA2k14 in the Target 2 for 1 deal and my thoughts:

Madden = excellent, but they need to up the frame rates and clean up some stuttering
NBA2k14 = Brilliant! And easily one of the prettiest games I have ever seen
Killzone = Got to level 3 in SP and played two hours of multi before I traded it in for BF4. KZs 30fps frame rates in single player was HOT GARBAGE and its multiplayer is very lame.

BF4: I have this for PC so I was very hesitant to pick it up for PS4. However, I am blown away at how good it is. Console peasants truly do not deserve a FPS this good :) When its working, BF4 on the PS4 is very, very good. Hopefully, EA patches up the crashing issues soon.
