• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I used to use it with smoothwall, have not used it lately though.

I cannot remember if you can log all websites visited (which would be one HUGE log), but I do know you can monitor what is blocked and make blocks :)

question for you network admin: how do you track the websites that the employees of your company visit?

If you are wanting small and simple: Try using a Linux router and integrate the router with Squid Proxy, and configure it to do a transparent HTTP proxy. That will allow for you to gather data, save visited webpages, and log their visitation without having to deal with the tribulations a SOCKS proxy would bring. Also, use a dnsmasq DNS or a BIND DNS so that you can give a name to that computer instead of a number just in case you are using DHCP. That will prevent yourself some trouble by having to search DHCP logs.

If you wanna be a real nazi, get Websense or SurfControl.

Websense is beautifully evil here at my work. I love it!

Those are software. Hardware proxies are the real Nazi way of doing things. Hehe, I was actually watching my dad's secretary, a girl a few years older than me (she was 19 and I was 15 at the time), and I enabled her system to have full access to the web the day that we added the new rack of networking equipment. I did that mainly just so I could test it's logging ability for just "visiting" certain websites. I watched from my terminal at home while she was on there surfing her little heart out on Myspace.com. I called work, and she picked up and I barked: "Get off of Mysapce!!" I abruptly hung up the phone...

She wouldn't look at me for a week after that, and I am now nicked named "Big Brother" over there after catching one of the guys trying to visit porno and another who tried to install MSN Instant Messenger.

They were used to the way the company was before my dad came along to manage it... and now that he is owner, we are doing even more to protect the company's interests through IT.

It's all software, its the implementation that matters. Either Websense or Surfcontrol can be setup as a full proxy. I personally recommend Websense. Easy to manage, and excellent reporting tools. Yes, log files are big, but the better web filters log to SQL or MSDE and provide a reporting tool to query the database and present the information in an easy-to-read format...both for you, and HR.
