I switched my family router to a Moto SB 5100 years back, and it was an astronomical jump from the ISP provided modem (probably because it was a jump from DOCSIS 1.1 to 2.0).

My current ISP (cablevision) supplied us with a Moto SB5150? I think-- the current one on the site says SB5120, but mine is larger and has a telephone jack on it too for some reason... In any case, they are great, I have never ahd any freezing issues and the speed is consistent.

sb5120

Shop fleabay..can snag one still shrink wrapped in the box for 50 - 70 bucks. Receive it...plug it in..call ISP to provision it...10 minutes later up and flying.

I had an old Motorola (cant remember what model) and went to a d-link 202 and noticed a huge leap in performance and no problems ever got it new for $50.
