I'm sure people have seen this. I love the idea but I wonder how well it works and if it could be modded for dual video cards.

Seen it before yes...no idea how it'd actually perform. It is a cool idea, something I'd definitely try if I had the cash to drop on it.

Considering it's "rated" at being able to handle GPU's putting out up to 120W of heat, I dunno if I'd try to mod it for a dual card solution unless it's something like a 6600GT SLI setup. Aside from the fact that it's thermaltake, it's not a product that I'd really have a lot of faith in...interesting none-the-less.

EDIT: Just checking out some reviews....not a ridiculously high performing cooler.

With all coolers running at 100% fan speed the Tidewater is only showing a gain of 10C over the stock cooler, and and even smaller margin of 8C when compared to the ATI Silencer by AC. While 8-10C isn't BAD...it's not something I can say I'd invest in when it's roughly double the cost of AC's silencer, and louder to boot.

While this is something unique, and a simple all-in-one approach to watercooling, it's more of a gimick product then a real solution for something that wants to throw h2O on their card (not literally of course). Leave it to Tt to come up with something like this, looks like they still have a handle on these type of things.

Bottom line, if unique/gimicky products are your forte then the Tidewater is just what you've been waiting for, but for the rest of us...an AC Silencer with a couple good mods and a lapping will suffice just as nicely.
 
Well that stinks, I was hoping for a little better performance. I definitely wouldn't use one of them for a SLI setup. I was thinking of using two instead of modding one. By the looks of them though you wouldn't have much, if any, PCI slot room available.
 
You realize that 10C is around 18degrees Fahrenheit...thats actually a lot. Although I'm still not sure it is worth it.

i suppose it's not...and considering it's one of these "all in one" watercooling kits it's not TOO bad, can't say i really expected a lot from it in the first place. Ah well, nothing new from Tt. :p

I have one coming for review next week, but I'm not planing on cooling anything highend with it either................... :eek:

let us know how it works out for you, not saying there's anything wrong with it, just that I don't think it's really worth the money.
 
Well I got a Tidewater used because I needed to do something about the high temps on my X1900XT. This thing shines on the high end cards. My original temps were

Idle 48c (Windows idle 1 hr)
load 88c (3dmark 2006 1 hr)

Man this card is hot. Now with the Tidewater I got

37 idle (Windows idle 1 hr)
58 load (3dmark 2006 1 hr)

The Tidewater works great if you dont want to watercool you entire system. I have since sold it and purchased an Asetek water cooling kit for my CPU and VGA. The Tidewater did a great job. But I figured while I water cooling....I might as well do the entire system.

Wow...I really didn't expect results like that. Nice going man, makes me think twice about the thing, and Tt's engineering. :p
 
For the price of two fo those thing, you could build a hecent setup your self to cool the GPU's.

Not only that, but many SLI/CF mobo's would BAREly have room to install two Tidewaters if they did at all...and a "real" h2O setup for roughly the same price would perform and look much nicer IMO.

I can't blame you...I'm still at a point where I wouldn't put a lot of many into their name...if any. As long as the bashing doesn't go too far I've never had anything against Tt slander. :p
 
right now i was pissed at them because if it's gonna be as expensive as the storm was then it should perform like one so now i'm trying to make jet-impringement blocks outta some copper tubing and end caps, man i coulda had a storm by now :mad:
