a silly question RE screen size...

Does it take more video card power to display, let's say, a 42" screen at 1920*1080 than it does for a smaller screen at the same resolution, let's say 27" at 1920*1080.

i, for some reason, think that it MAY take more power.. but i don't understand WHY, if it's the same resolution?
 
Nope, same power since it is driving the same number of pixels.
 
huh.. so why does everyone insist on simply stating the screen size and res, instead of just res, if it's all the same..?

Who is "everyone"?
When someone asks me for card advice, I just ask what games they plan on playing and at what resolution.

It should be just res. The people who do say screen size really don't know what they are talking about and are simply associating a certain monitor size with a particular res, e.g. 19"=1440x900, 22"=1600x1050, 24"=1980x1080, etc. etc. While for the most part these sizes do correlate to specific resolutions for PC monitors, it isn't always the case. I have seen 1080p monitors in every size imaginable.
