A really extreme case-modding

Im front Denmark, but that only makes it much more expensice. But an estimate... All parts are new inclusive computer and lcd monitor. I would say about $1300 everything included, in USA it would probably cost about $900-1000. Not much more than most people pay for a poor gamer pc :)

LOL! Sorry I said Sweden, I actually just had that in my head for a separate reason!

And all that is really not bad.

Only thing I'd have trouble sourcing is good quality wood for the project, and space in the house!

Maybe something for the future, this thing in a bachelor pad's game room would be freaking sweet.

Definitely something for the bachelor pad. I think most guys between 20 and 45 have a lot of memmories about arcade machines. I actually managed to make one in my flat and my brother is doing it just now, so it can be done and doesn't have to take up much space. But it is messy :D

If anyone is thinking about making a similar machine, I just uploaded the complete set of artwork to the homepage: http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/draw/

So now there is everything you need. Maybe you can use it, maybe not, but now it is there for you to download.

Best regards

Ive always wanted to make a Mame closet. Someday, Someday. The joysticks and button always seemed to be way too expensive so i took a risk and bought one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3706 Ive been very pleased with it. Its hooked up to my HTPC but its proving to be a problem getting it connected so i can play from the couch roughly 15 ft away.

Got any pics of what that looks like? Ive been interested in doing that. Also what version of Mame are you running?

I can recommend making a cabinet, it has the right feel for arcade games I think.

Wow! You could build those to sell. What an amazing job you've done!

Cudos to you!!!

man, you really do take pride into what you do. Is this just a hobby or do you make these for a living?

hey lokesen, how did you print out the graphics and apply them to the cabinet?

I got it printed from a printshop here in denmark. Bu you can also get it made from mamemarquees.com, but it probably would be cheaper from a local shop.

It wasn't too hard to apply, but requires some techique.

First you have to mount the artwork with some tape. (see the picture of the process on my homepage)
Then peel of an inch of foil under the tape and use a ruler to apply the vinyl while peeling off more foil.

It you do it this way, you will not have many bobbles under the foil. I regret that I didn't make a video of the process, that would have been easier to understand.

I know of the process you are describing lokesen. I did vinyl signs back in college and learned all the tricks of the process. I didn't know about mamemarquees - thanks for that. I too would probably go with a local shop. Thanks!

Very nice work on that, one of the better ones I have seen...
