Does a UPS using a 30amp plug (NEMA L5-30) use or draw a lot more power than what is necessary to actually run the UPS or does it only draw the power necessary to run the equipment plugged into the UPS at one single point in time.

So basically will a 2700watt UPS draw more than my 500watt PSU needs? and if so is it a lot more once the batteries are charged.
