So, I was thinking of getting this cooler. On Zalman's site it says that it is compatible with my socket, but not my specific motherboard. My question is, why won't it work if the sockets and fan sizes are standard?

EDIT: My Motherboard is an AOpen AX4B Pro-533

imo all zalman coolers are overrated. If you check benchmarks, they really dont cool all that great anyways. They weigh a freaking ton also. Id go for a ninja or maybe an ultra90/120, HR-01, XP-120. Most of those are cheaper and cool better than the zalman.

The Zalman's look cool but they don't cool as well as those mentioned above. If you're looking for pure performance look elsewhere. I have a Zalman 7700AlCu on my CPU and I like it but I know I could get better performance in another cooler. I really like how quiet and good-looking the Zalman's are. :D

Lots more reviews out there, that's just the first one that popped up on google.

Been using them with Opty's and 4800+ with very good results. Using ThermalTake A1926 on all of them right now. Tried the Zalman 9500's in one dual Opty box, performance was excellent, but didn't get as much airflow over the passive mb heat sinks as I'd like. So, back to the SI-120's and the pretty blue led A1926's. These fans don't have as much airflow as some, but are relatively quiet. The Zalman fans at full voltage were louder, probably because they are smaller.

Also, when using the SI-120 on the 4800+ in an Asus A8N32-SLI mb, the passive heatpipe chipset cooling works great. Lots of folks have complained about the heat this particular mb generates; not so using this hs and fan. Like the Tyan Opty board, the Zalman 9500 would probably work fine, except the mb chips would run warmer.

Nothing against Zalman's 9500, but in my situation the SI-120 works better.

All? The CNPS9500 is pretty good for the money.

No doubt, the CNPS9500 is awesome, but for the price id have to go with the Ninja. Both are great coolers, but for around 30 bucks i cant find a reason not to go with the Ninja.
