If I were to put a fan on the side of my case lined up with my HSF would the airflow from the case fan conflict with the HSF cooling?

Blowing in or out?

Best idea would to have it blow in, your CPU temp would drop a bit

If it compliments the direction that your HSF is blowing it would help cool the CPU more effeciently. If you have a HSF that pulls the air from the HS you will have to have a case fan blowing out of the case and vice versa.
