A question about AMD 7970 and 7950

Hello everyone. Good morning. :)

Well, I'm in doubt between the AMD Saphire 7970 and AMD Saphire 7950 OC.
I know the difference is so small, but since I am opting to buy something high end for the new computer, I believe the price difference between the two is the least important thing now.

The question is: What is the less problematic of the two? which one heats up less and had less return to the manufacturer?
I really wanted to buy the 7970 too, but I heard people talk that looks like a hair dryer. I do not know if this was the view of those who overclocks or if it is so. I really wanted to buy the 7970 but I'm afraid. Not considering the price, which one is the best of both?

Thank you in advance,
Best Regards,

Edde

The reference models have very loud fans after you go beyond 60% fan cycle, which is necessary if you overclock the thing.

I'd do one of three things:

reference + aftermarket air cooler
wait for the partners to release their own coolers......ie MSI twin frozr or buy the MSI lightning.
watercool
:D

mine were loud as hell. I shut them up buy watercooling them.;)

Hello magoo.

Well, I don't make overclock, I don't like to force hardware. I will use in standard settings.

I have one computer with an ATI RADEON 2900XT, is exactly the same shape and fan.
IS the same noise or more noise than this one?

If I use in regular things. not heavy games . IT will work ok? no too much noise?
I worried about bugs. wich one is more stable? the 7950 oc or 7979?
I really like the 7970, sseing the pics is very well made. I don't know about the 7050oc, very openned, I think the fun can pull lot of dust.

Well... Both are stable? Any issue with the 7970? wich one I should get? Thank you

If you buy the Sapphire 7970 and do not overclock it, and run the fan on the standard BIOS profile, it will be nearly whisper quiet.

I would buy the 7970 for a couple of reasons.....

1. more processing power
2. closed design, all the hot air is blown out the back of the case, not dumped into the case.

You can always download Afterburner and run your own fan profiles too.

don't worry about overclocking the 7970......these cards were made to do 1GHz easily.
my cards do 1125/1400 without breaking a sweat, but the fans are just too loud over 60% for my tastes. I have had zero problems with my 7970s. They are excellently designed.

Again, if you don't OC your cards they will rarely ramp up over 50% which is very quiet.:D
