I have the Liberty 500 and It's awesome. Never had any kind of instability like the Aspire PSU. Great SOLID power, love the modular aspect, bendable cables, shorter unit in length. No complaints. :)

what about the fan in it?
did u cut the case to let the flow in or did u just put the psu upside down?

also, i dont really like the modular cables as they are more likely to corride :/

Modular cables are more likely to what? Every component in your system uses a similar connector. Connectors are used everywhere - this isn't rocket science, it's a PSU putting out 12 and 5 volts DC on pluggable cables. Low amp draw, low voltage - I don't see a problem here. The main motherboard power feeds are soldered - those are the critcal ones. The Enermax Liberty 500 is awesome.

Hmm... enermax noise taker 420 is where it's at, perfect amount of cables and everything, if you get the liberty you NEED to flip it upside down to make it fit, which makes the 120mm fan useless...

why useless?
wont it still just suck the air from inside the case and pull it out?

That's Funny cause my Liberty is NOT turned upside down and it fits just fine. From what I can tell he fan is blowing out, but with a 800RPM you're barely going to notice the cfm coming out the back. If he wants to buy the Antec and save a mere $15 than let him, but dont feed him info thats false.

Hmm...I wonder if Aspire changed the case at all.
I tried putting my Liberty 400 w/ the fan facing downward and the outer part of the outside power cable socket was blocked by part of the case. I hate to mount it upside down as a result, and also had to take the fan grill off because the window pins would get caught on it when sliding the qpack case in place.
It's still extremely cool...cpu temp around 28. hdd temp around 30C.

u mean the fan side is touching the case cover?

anyways, i think im gonna order that one. still have to decide between the 400 and the 500W versions

I'm hardly feeding him false information buddy, from what I've seen most people who use the liberty power supply have to flip the ps upside down, making the 120mm fan pretty much useless, which is something I'd never do with my case. This is confirmed by the guy above... i'm not sure how you're fitting yours but props to you if it works just fine =/ Furthermore you'd be surprised by how much of a difference a 800rpm 120mm fan will make in the temps of your case/psu... it'll help prolong life and stability, so honestly stop feeding this poor guy bad information =P

ohh i think i was misunderstanding what u were saying

so, when u flip the psu upside down, does the fan face upside? if so, why not just cut the case cover?

I realize thats what you read here, but there are alot of other posts were users have had no problem fitting it in. I wasnt stating that a 800RPM fan will do nothing, just that you wont physically feel that much air coming out the backside compared to say a 1500RPM fan pushing more CFM. I've built enough systems to know what BAD information is.

Yes if you flip the PSU around the fan will be facing the top of the case. The difference in 12v Amps from the 400w to 500w for the price difference makes the 500w a better buy in my opinion. You can compare the specs on Enermax's site. It all depends on what you want to have connected to your system and if you plan to OC. Good luck with your purchase.

Yes the fan side would face the case cover, but I have the windowed qpack, so the pins holding the window get caught on the grill when you do this.

At any rate, it doesn't matter a heck of a lot in my setup...no power hungry video card for me, so case temp is pretty low.

I am a bit puzzled as to why Aspire designed their case that way at the back...seems to limit which power supplies you can fit w/o cutting away part of it to fit the power cord socket...

Something must have changed, because I built eight x-qpacks during December / January and all had Exnermax Liberty 500 PSU's. They all bolted in normal without any issues and the PSU fans were facing down. Two out of the eight black cases had windows. I thought about nibbling off the tang on the case next to the power cord socket, but it cleared the power cord on each case by a very small margin and I left it alone.

very weird. I bought my qpack from newegg around the 3rd week of December and still have the issue of the liberty power socket hitting that silver part of the case in the back.

meh mine seems to have some extra cutting to allow a different psu to fit properly in there but im not too sure as its from january
