Why is it that in the control panel the resolution only goes up to 1920 x 1080? I rebooted my PC after installing the driver for the monitor.

What kind of monitor does control panel/display say you're using.....look for the tab under settings/advanced (if it's Vista, don't know).

Nevermind, it was because I was using the silly HDMI cable instead of the DVI cable.

But I have a new problem now, the monitor says "No signal input" when I select component mode for my PS3...

Ironically I had the same issue today as I bought a new monitor (lg2452t) and the display setting also wouldn't go up to 1920X1200, LOL. But I found that you could change it by going to the NVidia control panel instead of the xp panel. Sorry can't help with the PS3. BTW, DVI isn't a 'component cable' in the strictest sense of the word, but I'm beyond my realm talking about the PS3 setup.
