I've been building systems on IDE mobos for awhile(with IDE HDDS) and I have a quick question about plugging in these SATA drives.

Do you need to plug in both Molex AND Sata power, or just one of the two?

Edit: Just saw the Disk Storage system subforum. Don't see a way to delete threads, so either move or delete or answer please.

Thanks.

all u need to plug in is teh SATA red ribbon and the SATA power, the molex connecter is not needed

hope it helped

you can plug in one or the other, but not both, (you could probably use both, but why?) any way, personally i would use the molex, as there is zero difference performance wise between the 2, and the molex tends to be more robust (less easy to break)

unless your sata power cables are right angle and you need to use them to keep the case clean or some such... like i said, makes no difference...

According to WD, this will ruin your drive. Use one, or the other, as thore originally stated.
