A little IC7Max3 Help

I just put my new rig together and everything is working perfectly except one thing. I’m running an IC7max3 w. 1 gig of ram, 3.2ghz P4c, and a 74MB Raptor on the SATA port 1. Everything works fine until I plug in my old 80MB IDE drive into IDE1. This drive does not have an OS on it – just some backed up data files. When I boot with the IDE drive plugged in the computer posts but I get a black screen after that. I’m not over clocked yet and I have the boot order set correctly. The IDE drive is set as master. There is no slave attached to the IDE drive and I can see the drive listed in the bios. I have a CD ROM attached to IDE2 and it works fine. So – why can’t I get past post when I have this IDE drive attached? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just a question....what kind of drive is it?
My last 2 WD drives had a pretty funky way of selecting the master drive...

Thanks for the replys. The drive is a WD800JB Special Edition. The jumpers are set to Master. Any suggestions... this is driving me nuts. Thanks

I have a new development. The computer boots and the HD works fine when the CD ROM is unplugged. What gives?

Maybe you forgot to put slave as the jumper for the cd rom drive?
