I have a 256mb Radeon X1800XT and a couple of days ago out of nowhere the screen would start flickering, I was using the Catalyst drivers and I tried updating them but no luck, I then went to the Omega Drivers where it flickers less. I also can't run any version of 3dmark for some reason or I get an error.
 
You may have an issue with your system with DirectX, check your version as if it's new might have an issue with your card.
