Whoo hoo... Let's just hope I get the a-okay from him. I emailed a manager and within 20 or so minutes, this I got...

I am very familiar with F@H as I was an early participant in distributed computing with Team Anandtech. As of now, I have no plans to use the computers in the lab for this purpose, but I will give it some consideration. When I have come to a decision, I'll be sure to let you know. Thank you and have a good day.

Well not to blow my hopes, it's nice to ask somebody who knows its usefulness. I'll just have to see.

How many computers are we talking if indeed this goes through?

12 rigs, dual cores - 24 clients, no SMP on them as they aren't out of beta yet and it's a production lab (aka, educational).

24 clients with the WUs of late would run pretty damn well....between the single client on my laptop, my A64 3500 (before I took it down), and my P4 1.8, I was nearly matching my X2 4800 in PPD. With newer dual cores only, each one could probably do a decent job of at least keeping a fairly high PPD going, even if not AS fast as the SMP WUs.

My only concern with the labs is how long they'll be left on, I hope for sure more than just the "business hours" nonetheless, still better than not having them run at all. I'm just waiting for his approval if granted, then we'll meet to set it up. Not sure how long until he tells me what his decision is. But yeah, this alone will grant some 5k + PPD without question, as I already have 17 (34 clients) borg of the same specs and it's netting me a good PPD usually on the weekdays when it's on.

Sent him an email reminding him and thanking him for his consideration. I want to know soon... I'll keep you all informed.

Oh great.....yet another person who will be outproducing me by 5k+ ppd

J/K.......that would be a great addition to the team. We ARE trying to break 1.5M / day now :D
