Creative has finally pulled the final insult, it's the last straw and there is a firestorm brewing with posts adding up into the thousands over it.

We all know that Creative has done a pathetic job with not coming out with drivers or software that is anywhere close to comensurate with the price of their sound cards! Well, there was this nice fellow, a Danial, who had been contributing and calming people down by offering his own drivers/software to help all the beleagured Vista OS Creative Labs Sound Card owners.

Creative just sent him a cease and desisit order, when it WAS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO LET HIM KEEP DISTRIBUTING THIS FREE FIX!!!

Now this is getting all over the web, and the posts are pouring in like wildfire.

I am banned over there for telling the truth about how, a couple years ago, Creative tech support literally refused to honor a warranty on a USB sound card!

It seems that this could be the beginning of the end for Creative, and it is sad. I am not one to spite them, but they have treated me like an animal.

Here is the latest thread on this firestorm:

http://forums.creative.com/creative...hread.id=116332&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

There is about 120 pages of this as I write this, and it keeps growing fast. Thousands are now saying that they won't buy any Creative stuff, and NEWEGG has evidently sent them a letter saying that they will stop selling such products of theirs, I don't know if it is true, but you can see it around page 117...

Yeah, to hell with Creative. I like my X-Fi to a point but I will definitely go with another brand next time. Time for a new vendor to step up and take hold of the computer audio business.

Holy son of a bitch Batman, this is huge. I wonder if Creative will go down the drain because of this?

Ok, I can understand if you didn't search first...

but this is kind of bad >_>

Yea I am starting to get sick of these theads , come on. do we really need 3 of the same threads. I wouldnt be shocked if i come back. And see the whole page fil with the same thread.

Sorry, but hey, this one deserves the additional exposure, no? And I did look, just didn't see.

Creative is so far gone that they remind me of the corporation which prints the "Hitchhikers Guide."

Seriously, WTF CREATIVE?

Why I use onboard sound lol.

I never have had good luck with Creative. I've had two Blaster Live!s' and an Audigy. Both have in some way either not worked (compatibility) or stopped working randomly for no reason at all.

I must say, my next sound card purchase WILL NOT be a creative card.

:p yay for onboard generic sound chips

I hope my x-fi prelude isn't affected by any of this >_>
Or if it is, maybe it'll go up in value..

Took them 2 whole years to fix the Digital I/O issue on X-Fi. Most recent set of drivers fix it. I won't be buying Creative again if they can't do better on their drivers. I will still buy Creative EMU cards though as they are a separate entity and should not be punished for their poor parent company.

M-Audio, HT Omega or Asus will getting my $$ in the future. The Newegg piece is over the top for me :(

I feel like the only person in the world who has been able to use an x-fi in vista with no issues...

No issues? Are you certain? Do you have ALL the same functionality, software, features, and whatnot that were available with XP? No. Please understand, they claim right on the box things that are still flat out untrue!

Yes because I have a Auzen XFI Prelude and not a Creative XFI. Auzen XFI prelude driver has every thing and as I said works better then the ones for creative XFi

And I dont have problems. I dont need some one calling me a lyier because they belive I have problems even when I say I dont.Your not sitting at my computer I am. Just because my Auzen XFI uses modded creative drivers do not mean i suppose to have problems too. Because auzen modded them for their card to add in DD live and tend ot release drivers fast.

I never had a problem since I got this Prelude last year. And my old XFI extreme music in my other computer is working fine also. When I was using my old XFI Extreme music years ago on NF4 DFI I didnt have problems then either. So Z3R0 your not the only one who has no problems with there card in vista.

So just because you and some other people have problems Do not mean every one does.

They should've just told him not to ask for donations but to stop distributing his drivers altogether is wow.

Seriously, they are the stupidest people on the planet if they didn't see this coming. They just royally f***ked themselves with all of this bad PR.

This just made me decide to ditch my Audigy Platinum for a sexy Auzentech X-Meridian, I found a good deal on one and couldn't resist.

But yea, screw creative. They need to get their heads out of their asses and either fix their own damn drivers or let this dude continue his work.

Creative SUCKS and they deserve everything coming their way.

I hope they go bankrupt and out of business. They have had non-existent driver support for at least 6 years that I can remember, but it probably goes back a lot further than that.

I linked to LoStMaTt's thread since it was the 1st one posted. The others should be merged into that one, IMO.

He thought you were talking about X-Fi drivers in Vista and not the Prelude drivers.

I use X-Fi in XP and Chaintech AV-710 in Vista so have no issues either, now that they have finally fixed the digital I/O issue for X-Fi cards. That was an issue on XP and not just Vista.

I think Creative is now one step closer to becoming the "Bose" of the soundcard industry. In the future the ignorant will continue to buy them since they recall a time when somebody told them that "creative is the best" etc etc (just like when Bose actually produced a quality speaker 30 years ago).

I hope the rumor about newegg's threats were true, threats from a big company like newegg ought to be taken seriously. And i hope the news articles and barage of posts from end-users will stir an official reaction. I won't hold my breath though.

And this comes from someone who never really bashed creative in the past.

They locked the thread and posted some damage control today.

It's not going to help them, though. Creative is going down the tubes.

I would just like to add that about a year and a half ago I purchased a eVGA 8800GTS, Opty 180, and an X-Fi XMusic sound card all at the same time. I installed the new CPU first, fired up the system ran it for a few and all was well. Then installed the graphics card and drivers, restarted the system, played a few games and again, all was well. Last, I installed the X-Fi card and just the drivers. Not all of the other software that comes with the X-Fi, just the drivers. I ran the system for a few then a BSoD.

I uninstalled the sound card drivers, restarted into safe mode, used CCleaner to remove all remnants and rebooted. Installed the full meal deal drivers and software, figuring I must have missed something along the way. The system ran for two days non stop. Then crashed. Daily. For about 9 months I lived with a system that would crash daily if not more often. I hated it. I had a rock solid system up to that point in time. I dont make alot of money, I came into a windfall to get the items I purchased. And before you ask, my on board audio had died on me recently, so no....using on board was not an option. I just sucked it up and drove on.

A few months ago, I got tired of dealing with the crashes, so I looked and looked and finally found what seemed to be decent drivers. Uninstalled all the Creative crap and installed the base Win XP drivers for my XP OS. What do you know, my system was rock solid once more for several months, until I installed a new hard drive. Uninstalled the X-Fi drivers and did a fresh install, all was good again in the world. Installed a new DVD drive a few weeks later, CRASH BSoD almost daily. Reinstall drivers, Creative card is happy again.

This is crap, my vid card doesnt demand reinstalls everytime I update some piece of hardware. The motherboard doesnt throw a hissy requiring a reinstall. WTF is wrong with creative. And this isnt the first time soundbalsters have been picky. Remember the Win 95/98 days of manual IRQ manipulation. Creative cards demanded and required PCI Slot 3. To put it anywhere else on the mobo would mean you would play hell. Creative's drivers have always been lacking, untimely to say the least, and usually outdated by the time they were finally released.

I promised myself that if I wasnt satisfied with the X-Fi, that it would be strike three for Creative and wouldnt you know it they have failed epically once again.

Good Bye, Creative. I wished I could say its been good knowing you. But your worse then a cheating x-gf or wife.
