A free video card!!!

ok... stupid question here, but why is everyone waiting for pics? I can get a cardboard OEM box, write 440MX on it with a sharpie and put a 6800GT that I bought inside it. Having pics does nothing to validate this story unless I'm missing something.

well it wasnt sealed, he said he took out the card off one of his display pcs that was "very outdated".

this (6800 anything) card is not very outdated.
 
Even if it wasn't sealed, don't the cards themselves say "GeForce 6 Series" on them. (See above pics.) Even if he was a noob, how could he have mistaken that for an MX420

I think that little bit of the "story" is meant to be as a surprise, as if his freind did it on purpose, not by accident to surprise him. And I put quotations around the word story because I don't belive it.

Be careful he doesn't sell you a 6800 box with a geforce 4 inside.

Look everyone, very simple:

DO NOT ASSUME!!! :eek:

Maybe the guy who owned the shop knew FULL WELL that it was a 6800GT but just used an old Geforce4 box he had lying around.

From what we've been told, these guys were friends and the shop owner probably knew this guy would really appreciate a good graphics card which he now has no financial need for (assuming he didn't have to liquidate the store/assets and merely closed the shop at a loss).


If the guy actually thought the card was a geforce4 well then, yeah, whata spaz (obviously)...

Some where (probably in another forum) there's a pissed off customer complaining that he got ripped off!!! LOL

By the time he got the box home/shipped/opened and realized there was only a Gf4mx card in the box he paid $350 for, the store had already closed & went out of business!!
 
Congrats on the free card :) , but this is turning into a flame fest/
