A few RAM questions

Hey guys
I am trying to find the source of random blue screens and game freezes. So here are a few questions I have and much appreciate the help. My MOBO Asus maximus vi formular z87 if that matters

1. My RAM at the moment is Gskill trident x 2x8 2400mhz. If base timing were to be off by a few numbers could that cause crashes/freezes ?

2. Would RAM run more stable at 2133mhz OR 1866 MHz if I were to manually change it

3. Will OC'ing the CPU get more out of my RAM ?

noob here so thx a bunch for the help

Yes setting ram too aggressively can cause crashes. Yes changing the timings can cause problems.

Ram will likely be more stable at a lower clock.

Get a utility like CPU Z ans check what timings your ram can support.

You can also go down to one stick for troubleshooting.

Here's an 8GB G.Skill Trident rated for 2400 MHz. Notice it's made from Hynix speed grade H9 chips, meaning Hynix thinks they shouldn't be run faster than 1333 MHz:
