So I'm a n00b folder (3 WU done, two processors folding atm) and am still getting my feet wet here.

I've a few questions/problems:

I'm trying to register over at the [H]orde to get my name in the register. I'm following this link to enter my pertinent information, but upon submitting, it says "Field not complete" and doesn't register me. Help!

Also, what do the -forceSSE, -advmethods, and -service flags do? I'm using the latest version of FireDaemon lite to run instances of F@H4 as a service.

I can't help you with registering on the Horde site, but I can answer this question, at least partially. I suggest that you contact the Sysop as you are not alone with this problem.

-forceSSE tells the core to use SSE instructions even if the core had problems (forcing SSE). P4's with SSE default to SSE, but the core can eliminate SSE use if there are problems unless you have the -forceSSE flag set. AMD processors that support SSE default to 3DNow without the -forceSSE flag set.

-advmethods tells the assignment server at Stanford to try to assign you to a server giving out the newest protein Work Units, typically Gromacs (or lately, double Gromacs).

I'm not sure what -service actually does. I've never been able to successfully get FAH running as a service on my machine, in spite of several tries. So I'd appreciate help with this too.

From my understanding, and anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, using the "-service" flag tells it that if you log out don't stop running the FAH client. Otherwise if you log out of the computer the FAH client will stop. Well, that's my interpretation of it anyways!

Buckus is right. If you set up folding as a scheduled task and use the -service flag, it will remain running after you log out and the next person logs in. I haven't set it up as an actual service, so I can't say if it applies in that situation.
