this is my first time overclocking anything. i read a few overclocking guides, and it just seems like overclocking is a bios change???? is it better to use SoftFSB or go in the bios??. this is my setup E6700, Asus P5N32-SLI-SE-Deluxe, 1gbx4 cosair xms. i just need alittle help thanks.

Bios overclocking is IMO best for longterm use, but Soft clocking is very useful for determining your maximum overclocks :).

sounds good...

run prime95 and then use clockgen to up the FSB 5mhz at a time and when there is an error in prime clock back down....

I have found 20-50 mhz before I error is the sweet spot... so then change FSB in bios to what you found and run prime overnight and then repeat if it errors or if you want a higher oc..

this is assuming you know about PCI locks and mem dividers... if not read the OC sticky..
