A few questions about wired+wireless on same router..

I did a search and I know that you CAN do hook up cat 5 to a router and have a wireless connection at the same time, but is there any performance loss by doing it?

(Comps will be a windows me hardwired and a windows xp home laptop will be wireless).

Also, has anyone encountered any problems doing that with any certain router? I'm thinking of getting a linkys wireless G or maybe a dlink.

I recommend the Linksys WRT54G just like everybody else.

1 wired and 1 wireless should be perfectly fine unless there are problems with the individual systems.

They're designed to do it and they do it well. If you have a bunch of wireless connections then it would slow down more but since you have one and one you'll be just fine.
